Product Info
Cerazette is a contraceptive pill which is often referred to as a mini pill. This is due to the fact that is only contains one active ingredient, namely artificial progestogen, but is still proven to be over 99% effective in preventing pregnancy. Taking the Cerazette contraceptive pill also allows for a large degree of flexibility as it can be taken up to 12 hours after the regular time it might be taken.
The main ingredient is artificial progestogen, which can effectively stop ovulation, which makes it different from other mini pills. It also makes the cervical mucous thicker, which stops sperm from entering the womb, and causes the womb lining from increasing thus allowing an egg to attach itself.
Benefits of Cerazette
Because the mini-pill only contains progestogen, it’s a much better option for women who experience adverse effects to treatments containing oestrogen. This is what also makes it a safer contraceptive if you’re breastfeeding. Studies also showed Cerazette to reduce period pains, including in sufferers of dysmenorrhea.
The Cerazette contraceptive pill can also be taken up to 12 hours after the normal ingestion time. This means it’s highly flexible in terms of providing effective protection.
Side effects and risks
There are certain side effects of Cerazette that may be experienced. However these should be mild and only last initially if you begin using the treatment as the body naturally adjusts to the hormones. Common side effects are nausea, headaches, mood changes, acne, irregular or no periods and decreased libido.
It’s advised that you do not take the Cerazette birth control pill if you are allergic to desogestrel (artificial progestogen), are pregnant, have breast cancer, vaginal bleeding, and jaundice or have thrombosis.
Should any side effects increase in severity or not become milder with usage, you should consult your doctor immediately.
How to take Cerazette mini pills
This mini pill should be taken continuously for the entire month, once a day. Preferably at the same time each day, but Cerazette can be taken up to 12 hours afterwards should you forget during the day. The constant daily treatment means that you are however, unlikely to miss or mistake when you need to take a tablet; which might happen with a combination pill that requires a seven-day break at the end of each month.
